My love for Fashion and the Arts started when I was about 13yrs. old, by observing my grandmother’s home base boutique, at my town’s 17th century church, dressing it’s baroque Saint’s in all of those beautiful gold trimmed costumes made out of velvet, satin and brocade and when I found my mother’s stylish 1963 wedding dress in the attic. That, really inspired me to create my first play

“The Wedding” at my friends garage. I was about 15 then.

I remember how exciting it was when I was given a copy of the fashion magazine L’Uomo Mondo. Wow my very first one. What a wonder that was! Like the world had opened in front of my very own eyes . After studying the designs and the materials used by the italian designers I figured that I could get the same looks by using burlap and raw cotton, I immediately went to the local grocery to pick up a few empty burlap potato sacks and white raw cotton flour ones for their great texture-and they were free-plus it was a different idea no one had ever thought of using those to make clothing. I ask my friend and seamstress “Gatinha” to make me outfits straight from it’s pages using the bags, first she asked me, “Are you crazy? Using rags to make clothing?” but I insisted. And she did it. Even she  was amazed at the results. At the time too extreme for my small town, but not so for Rio de Janeiro’s vibrant night life, where I could freely sport my “Rag Fashions”.

Soon after I moved to the U.S., I discovered vintage clothing, first for monetary reasons then quickly became my greatest love and still is. To this day I can’t resist the idea of digging into a good pile of old clothing and as incredible as it may be always something interesting catches my eye and imagination. That is my version of “Treasure Hunt”.

In the 90’s glamour and excess were in vogue, those were the Gianni Versace and the super model years and I made my way to the fashion apts. in Miami Beach FL.,there a fashion photographer admired my personal style so much that he asked me to style his fashion shoots professionally. I then went to New York City. Once there I took a class in art direction at NYU followed by a sewing, draping and dress-making at F.I.T. . While doing wardrobe styling for independent films, window-dressing            and merchandizing for a vintage store. My creative skills flourish, landing me a place at New York’s Metropolitan Opera.

Today I’m caring for my best friend and companion Sydelle whom I love very much. By utilizing her 93yrs. of life’s knowledge, indispensable love, great understanding, support and guidence. I’m writing my first film script “PREFACE” (The story of a young man looking to find his place in this complex world in which we live.), also making it’s wardrobe come alive from clothing, fabrics and props found at thrift shops around town.

I’m looking forward to realizing a dream I had long ago, to somehow create beauty throughout my life’s journey. It started in a small town and brought me all the way to New York City.
